I added hemp seeds instead of flax meal. I love the flavor with the maple and cinnamon. I made a keto version of this using this alternative homemade honey recipe (https://tjstaste.com/homemade-honey/) and it smelled amazing and tastes so good. I think it’d be fine without them, though! This recipe is very tasty! I also added maple flavoring to one batch and then strawberry extract to another- both tasted phenomenol! Another alternative is to make grain free Paleo granola using the linked recipe. With its inviting, sweet taste and snackable crunchy texture, granola is a great “gateway” whole grain food.
Just started gluten, dairy and wheat free diet but was missing my usual breakfast, made this and loved it with coconut yogurt, managed to keep it to myself for a week but now my husband has checked it out and it’s disappeared so need to make another batch tomorrow. Healthy Alternatives to Granola. All these nuts are price-y. xo. It isn’t an essential item but it is definitely a convenient item. This is definitely a keeper. Try honey instead. That honey recipe calls for honey flavoring but since I didn’t have any and knew I’d be making this granola, I used coconut extract instead and it was the perfect flavor for this recipe. I loved this granola! A winning combination. I’ll be eating this with my yogurt and now have an oats/grain-free option. I’m on the Keto diet so grainless granola is perfect for me. To coat it I use a little MCT oil and to sweeten it I use honey and coconut syrup. I think if I used regular version it would have torn while I was breaking the granola up after it had cooled. My family loves it!!! You’re recipes are always healthy, easy to make and delicious. I use maple syrup and coconut palm sugar as sweeteners and replace the coconut oil with extra light olive oil. It’s super helpful for us and other readers. Love the idea of adding it to cookie dough. I’d substitute, or scale back on liquid ingredients. I imagine with sugar etc it would be out of this world, but I found the keto version to be perfectly acceptable, especially served with some homemade cream based yogurt!!

What I altered in the first batch was adding 1/2 tsp nutmeg and 1/4 tsp clove to the cinnamon, then I used cacao nibs and Hunza raisins instead of blueberries and sunflower seeds–it was delicious. My vegan daughter and I love this recipe! Remove the pan from the oven and allow to cool for 30 minutes before braking the granola apart. I use all of the listed ingredients but I increase the quantity of nuts and seeds. I let it go too long and it got burnt, though. Also, I subbed pumpkin seeds for pecans on the first bake.
Just as an alteration I completely removed the blueberries abc maple syrup and kept the coconut oil and after added very finely chopped 90/99% dark chocolate as a lower sugar alternative. Yum! What a healthy alternative to store bought sugary granola! My husband also LOVES it and has said many times ‘this can’t be healthy – it tastes too good’. Thanks so much! I love this recipe.

All I can think about is how good this would be topped on ice cream! Only issue is that is is not crisping at all and has been in way longer than the stars baking time. You´re so good!!
This granola was pretty easy to make, you just have to keep an eye on it towards the last 5 mins of the first bake and eye it to your level of brown on the second bake. Another great addition: ginger CHIPS.
What an easy & delicious recipe. Easy and great tasting. The nuts and seeds have healthy omega-3s and unsaturated fats along with fiber. Me too! I prefer to sub pepitas for sunflower seeds and use golden raisins as my dried fruit–they’re less expensive than a lot of other dried fruit, and their mild flavor pairs well with the nuts. I didn’t want to use sunflower seeds so I threw in 3/4 cups raw pumpkin seeds with the rest of the nuts to bring it all to the right amount. Thank you!
